Round 2 . . .

In efforts to continue a more health-conscious mindset and lifestyle, I've decided to go ahead and do another Juice Reboot. However this time, I'm not going to claim it a Reboot as that hints at temporary task. I've decided to embark on another journey, hopefully this one lasting a little longer. My motivation still continues to be my upcoming trip to Miami. Even more so than that, my motivation is now something even greater than that; it's for ME. Since I ended my previous reboot last weekend, I've still very conscious as to what I am putting into my body. I've had mainly juice since then, and an occasional meal since but still straying from breads, sugars, coffee, sodas, and processed foods. Now, I can't say I've been 100% free of those, since I had some grilled cheese the other day. I gave into temptation, but I quickly felt horrible for it--both physically ill and morally bruised. I just had to accept the downfall and get right back up. I am not being as strict with myself as I had been on my Reboot either. This time, I am allowing myself the leniency of eating light snacks as long as I innately promise to exercise it off later. So far, it's seemed to work okay for the most part.

I weighed myself a couple of days ago, and little to my surprise I am still sans the 20 pounds that I had lost from last week. I have since then continued my walks, but this time including periods of running. I convinced my neighbor to join me in exercising: we will begin a video workout session tonight. We are going to try and tackle a workout regime of Focus T25. Supposedly according to the tiresome advertisements, it only takes 25 minutes a day to be able to see the results in as little as the first month. We'll see how the progress advances. I am looking forward to the challenge and even more so to the results. Wish me luck!


The below was my juicing preparations from the other night. It should take me into 4 days, but I had plenty leftover if I want to juice it as well or even make healthy eating choices.

End of a Journey, Beginning of a Lifestyle.

I ended my reboot over the weekend. This journey started out as a detox, and ended up being an exercise of will power and determination. By the end, I experienced increased energy levels, clearer skin, and even ended up losing 21 pounds. That seemed to me a little drastic to lose in one week​, but I also know I put in a lot of crud into my body. It was a wonderful reboot with a resounding impact on my health. Since then, I haven't resumed eating unhealthily normal. I have still steered clear from my second love of coffee (my first being cookies). No sodas, and also a significant cut back on breads and carbs in general. I have incorporated juices into my normal regime. I had a tasty carrot, orange, grapefruit, and lemon juice this morning and afternoon. Last night I went to a steakhouse for dinner. I would have usually binged on something unhealthy, buy my new healthy-focused self ordered the salad bar and water. It was still wonderful, and I even treated myself to some banana pudding. Overall, I refuse to simply abandon my juicing mentality and instead plan on incorporating juices, healthier choices, and at least walking into a part of my life. Day 5 - Piece of ca. . . Kale

I feel like now that I am over the hump of the most challenging days of three and four, I am capable of going further than I had anticipated. I woke up this morning feeling more energetic than usual. I even feel like I have a little pep to my step. Last night I made a few juices to get me into the weekend. I hadn't juiced since my bulk juice night on Sunday when I prepared juices and froze them until I needed them for this week. I'm still prolonging my juice intake to one in the morning so far today, and one in the afternoon, and possibly another one or two in the evening. I'm actually having single servings ( as far as the recipes specified) and sticking to those. I'm not limiting myself per se, I am just not indulging on any excessive hunger or temptations. Whereas in my previous Reboots I would have drank two or three juices in the morning alone, I am alternating between sipping my juice, drinking plenty of water, and also incorporating hot teas into my juicing regime.

The wonders of hot teas. . . Besides the fact that hot natural teas contain antioxidants, they also help to keep you feeling less hungry.

I think the most apparent change I feel is that I am definitely feeling more energetic (besides having stayed up until midnight watching a movie). I see my skin isn't oily and I also feel like my teeth may even be a little whiter. These 5 days have been a great rejuvenation for my body. I don't feel like I've struggled too much with giving into temptation or even getting any cravings. In prior Reboots, I will never forget I also had one particular unhealthy food I was craving throughout. Whether that was a big, juicy loaded hamburger with the works, or a large, New York style greasy and cheesy slice of pizza. One thing I know about myself, regardless of state of diet; I love cookies. Any type, and flavor, and any time. But I've been incredibly tame with not even darting an eye at the box of cookies in my desk drawer at work. I was even able to converse with my family while they were having dinner and there I was with my juices.

My motivation right now, besides seeing the results of weigh-in night at the end of Day Three , I am also feeling motivated to follow through with a healthier than normal lifestyle because in a couple months my other half and I are going on a vacation to Miami! This will be a great opportunity to work up to until then.

I've come to find out that my 'Zombie's, Run!' game was only a taste of the paid app, so I am going to give in and purchase it for the sake of continuing my zombie missions. It honestly has been a very enticing method to get me to go on my 5 mile walks/runs everyday.

Day 3 and Weigh In

Today I was incredibly tired. I immediately assumed it was attributed to the juicing, but after careful consideration I discovered the true culprit to my fatigue is that fact that I've been walking 5 miles everyday since juicing. I know it doesn't sound like much, but it's apparently taking its toll on me.

This round of Juice Reboot I haven't been drinking as many juices as I had in previous Reboots. Previously, I would've drank 2 jars, 12 ounces each, in the morning before noon. Then I would have had another jar in the afternoon, and another one and a half in the evening.
This time, I had one this morning, and one in the afternoon, and so far I am finishing off my final one after my evening walk.

I first weighed myself on the night before juicing. Now mind you, I had been gorging all weekend long. That night I weighed 245. Today I weighed myself, and I weighed 224. Wow!! Although this fatigue was somewhat getting to me, not so much any temptations, that whopping 21 pound difference is enough to motivate me to push forward. I will update further tomorrow.



P.S. Tonight's Zombie mission included an child and maybe hints of a zombie child. . . Awesome.

Zombies, Run! with Ever

This evening Ever decided to join me for a run. It was the perfect night for a stroll, and the dogs really thought so as well. I worked on my third Zombie mission while our (Ever and my) fuzzy friends got to blow off some of their excess energy.

It's great being able to see and track your progress within the game. We'll see what tomorrow has in store.

Day 2

Juice Journal Day 2:

Day 2 and I feel I'm still going strong. I haven't exactly given myself a time frame for this Juice Reboot, but I'm aiming for at least a week. So far, I am anticipating the detox symptoms of headaches and grogginess. Yesterday after work, I avoided being around the dinner table by taking my dogs out for a 5 mile walk/run. We were chasing zombies.

Typically I'll have about 24 ounces of morning juice through out the morning and then the same for the afternoon juices. I don't find it helpful if I actually sit down and have a 'meal'. I have to be able to sip on it all day so I won't feel too compelled to think about food. I go back and forth between juice and water all day--causing me to make frequent trips to the restroom. I also have natural hot teas to help with my feening for coffee. It helps subdue my desire for my multiple daily cups of caffeinated elixir.

Currently my energy levels are still recuperating from my pre-juicing partying this past weekend. On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being the worst I rate the following:

Day 1

Juicing Journal Day 1:


I am incredibly exhausted. I only got a few hours of sleep last night so it’s going to be a tough day for me. Luckily I prepared 4 days worth of juices ahead of time so I won’t be too consumed of time making them. I think the most difficult thing for me is going to be COFFEE! So I am substituting tea, hoping it jolts me awake at any moment. When I went for the ingredients I was going off the top of my head so I didn’t get too much variety for veggi juices besides plenty of mean green. I’ll have to find a way to mix it up.
